History of Scoil Mhuire N.S

Scoil Mhuire N.S

The present school building of Scoil Mhuire, Monivea was built in two stages. In 1965 three classrooms were built. However, in 1976 two more classrooms were added on when the two schools of Monivea and Ryehill amalgamated. Denis Lally became principal of Monivea N.S in 1977 when Mr. Sean King (principal of Ryehill and of the amalgamated school) retired. He was succeeded by Mrs Ann Cooke who had been an assistant in Scoil Mhuire since 1982. Mrs Cooke took over the principal ship in 1995.

During 2010/2012 four more classrooms were added to the school, also learning support, resource rooms and staff room were refurbished. In Sept 2013 another special needs room was added.  In 2016 Mrs. Ann Cooke retired and Mrs.Joanne Geoghegan was apppointed principal.
